Things to do in Brno

Brno is a lovely city, the second city of the Czech Republic and the capital of the Moravian district. It is, in fact closer to Vienna than to Prague, and not nearly so full of tourists as Prague, but it is a real Czech town, with lots to see and do, with lots of interesting old buildings, churches, squares and markets. Within 5 minutes walk of your hotel “Grand Hotel Brno” there are two large shopping malls, with an excellent range of shops from international top quality clothing outlets to perfume stores, jewellers, fast food outlets etc There’s even a huge Tesco! The city boasts a Cathedral, a large castle – the Spilberk – on top of the hill overlooking the old part of the city, and many good quality shops in the old city centre, again only  a few yards from your hotel.. There are trams and trolley buses running everywhere, a very cheap and nice way to get around and see the sights. There’s nearly always something going on in the main square in the Old City, whether street entertainment, market stalls selling local produce and wine, or, in the summer, pavement cafes and a little tourist train that runs on the city tramlines.

If your stay in Brno is longer than a few days you may even decide to visit Prague or Vienna on a day trip (the cost by public transport – very clean and efficient- is around £10 return to each) Or you may wish to see some of the spectacular scenery and pretty Moravian small towns and villages within ½ hour’s drive from the city.

Our representative, and the Hotel’s reception will be happy to advise and help arrange any trips you wish to take.

You will get a good sense of what the city looks like and some of the atmosphere Brno by visiting the site here   http://www.virtourist.com/europe/brno/index.html.
